Pulmonary Diseases
Merkez Prime Hospital Pulmonary Diseases Unit offers services for diagnosis and treatment for diseases of the lungs and the respiratory system with its expert medical staff and technological hardware. As respiratory system disorders can adversely affect the functioning of the lungs, problems like coughing, wheezing, phlegm, chest pain and blood from the mouth can arise.
Our Pulmonary Diseases Unit, which works with a multidisciplinary approach, has a Respiratory Function Laboratory which can perform many different tests such as slow and forced vital capacity tests and diffusion tests.
Our Technical Equipment
- Bronchoscopy
- Thoracentesis and Pleura Biopsy Examinations
- Respiratory Function Laboratory
- Allergy Tests
- Radiological Monitoring (Computerized Thorax Tomography (with or without medication), Bottom Extremity Venous Doppler USG, THORAX: Angiography vb...)
- Phlegm examinations (Specific and non-specific phlegm examinations, LT and other phlegm cultures, etc.)
- Laboratory Tests
Bronchoscopy Unit
With our bronchoscopy device with a light source and an imaging device at its tip, detailed images of the respiratory tracts can be extracted. The bronchoscopy device in this unit is used for diagnosis and aid in the treatment of patients with abnormalities detected in chest x-rays and CT images, coughing with no known reason, complaints of spitting blood and other lung diseases.
Pulmonary Function Tests
Patients with respiratory problems are examined after their patient histories are noted. Respiratory function tests, which are the first tests to be performed after examination, are used to detect respiratory dysfunctions and the severity of said dysfunctions. Many different respiratory function test methods are used for distinguishing the diagnosis and for follow-up. Many respiration parameters such as FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC, PEF can be evaluated with this test.
Bronchodilatation test (Reversibility test)
Before performing this test, the doctor notes the medications used regularly by the patient. First, the patient is asked to breathe as usual in the mask connected to the device. Then, the patient is administered an inhaler and the test is repeated. During the test, factors blocking respiration or reducing respiratory capacity are observed.
